Effective training of pace and path begin with the rider understanding their role. The influence of the rider’s balance, hip angle, and eyes greatly effect a horse’s performance.
Position As in any athletic sport, body alignment, flexibility, and consistency are key. Position begins with heels down, eyes up, and a flexible hip and elbow. A strong, flexible, consistent position creates a strong, flexible, and consistent horse.
Pace The basics of pace begin with the horse and rider understanding “go” and “whoa.” Building upon those basics allows the horse to lengthen and shorten comfortably and thus be regulated by the rider.
Path Path begins by simply being able to turn our horse where we wan them to go and then we move to leg yielding. Your creating a tunnel your horse moves through by using both legs, both hands, and your weight.
Positive Reinforcement Positivity is a key component to success in any horse endeavor. Rewarding the horse through voice and scratching builds the bond between horse and rider which aids in the learning process.
